Passing Time

Isaiah 42:3
A bruised reed he will not break,
    and a smouldering wick he will not snuff out.
In faithfulness he will bring forth justice;

Psalm 130:5
 I wait for the Lord, my whole being waits,
    and in his word I put my hope.

It's difficult for me to believe that it's been FOUR YEARS since I last shared my thoughts. Interestingly enough, during this time of #safeathome and #selfquarantine trying to protect others, I was reminded of some scriptures today that really stuck with me. Pondering them, I realized how easy it can be to trust and love God just for who He is.

How quickly I can take for granted his unfaltering compassion and unfailing love. Yet, still He provides for me every day, everything that I need. Even if I feel I'm at the end of myself, He yet again, showers me with His kindness and gentle Fatherly presence.

God loves me in spite of my human-ness. He knows I am finite in my knowledge of Him, yet as He watches my eyes light up with something new and foundational about Him, what joy must fill His heart! How wonderful it is when someone is learning about us, for who we are; God is no different. He longs for us to want to get to know Him. There is so much of Him to know, that we can never even think to comprehend more than the mere edges of His ways.

In this time of waiting, How God must long to hear from us each and every day.
If I'm feeling down and out, or just overwhelmed by emotions or thoughts, I need to be taking it to God first. Give Him everything. He's waiting for me, longing for me to know Him.

Last night, I experienced a very strange burning metallic smell blowing from my furnace. It was so pungent that I woke from a slumber and immediately knew something was terribly wrong. I realized it was coming from the heating vents and so I quickly turned off my furnace for the night. I let it rest, thinking maybe it was simply overworked (much like I feel, these days). This morning, I go to turn it on and it begins to work properly. It was nice to have heat again! Then, all of a sudden, the smell was back. There were no strange noises, my carbon/smoke detectors never went off; so I quickly shut it back off again. It could have been a bad day, I could have felt overwhelmed and distraught, asking why this, why now? However, I had such a peace and thankfulness that God had already provided for my need before it ever happened.

This is God's love for us. Not just in the "little" everyday moments in life when things unexpectedly go awry, but in EVERYTHING. God cares so much about taking care of me and keeping me warm. He even has kept me working and gave me a job that understands and allows time for events like this. He even has the birds fly by my patio when I'm on my break, for He knows how much I enjoy seeing and hearing them. How can we not see His love in everything around us each and everyday?

What if this time was made especially for us to be with God? Have we not been hungering for more of Him? I know I have. Just imagine the smile or the joy we bring in sitting in the presence of our Heavenly Father. If you feel like you can't go on another day, or even just get up to look at the same walls you saw yesterday..wait no longer. He is with us. Draw near to Him. He longs for you.
